The Future Primitives - This Here’s The Future Primitives

First, I’ll apologize for Sean and myself for our conspicuous lack of posts the last two days.  I can only speak for myself, but I blame the 4th of July, the day of American Independence.  You see, there is drinking to be done with your family, then drinking to be done with your friends, and then drinking to be done with yourself.  And fireworks.  All of which leaves very little time for listening to BOMBS worthy music (There was an excess of “God Bless America”).  And then, obviously, yesterday was a needed day of recovery.

I’m back now with an EP I found over at Ongakubaka.  The Future Primitives is a psychedelic garage-surf band from Cape Town, South Africa, and they’re real good.  Think Ty Segall at his most unhinged, and with an extra-large dose of surf.  Then throw in some serious ’60s psych leanings.  And none of that dreamy Zombies type psychedelia, I’m talking about that borderline nightmarish 13th Floor Elevators type shit.  On “I Been Searchin’” I think I can even hear some Elevators style electric jug.  Then again, that’s unlikely, since I don’t think anyone before or after Roky and his cronies ever employed an electric jug as a prominently featured musical instrument.  It’s just too preposterously awesome.
